32nd Liepāja International Star Festival

On March 9th of this year, the 32nd Liepāja International Star Festival will begin at the Great Amber Concert Hall, running until March 23rd. The festival will feature both Latvian and international stars, some of whom are more or less known to us, and whom we will have the opportunity to hear live. Performers will include Canadian pianist Louis Lortie, German violinist Katharina ten Hagen, and French oboist Céline Moinet, Finnish conductor Juha Kangas, the State Academic Choir “Latvija,” internationally acclaimed opera singers, pianists Aurelijus Šimkus, jazz musician John Rocco, and others.

This festival, rich in traditions, which originally started as the International Pianism Star Festival, has been attracting both audiences and musicians to Liepāja for over 30 years.

The festival program includes 5 concerts:

The opening concert will be on March 9th at 18:00. Canadian pianist Louis Lortie will take the stage with the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra under the direction of conductor Guntis Kuzma.

On March 15th at 19:00, the jazz program will delight the festival audience with “Trio Elpo” together with saxophonist and clarinetist John Rocco.

On March 16th at 19:00, the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Finnish conductor Juha Kangas will perform.

On March 21st, pianist Aurelijus Šimkus will take the stage.

The festival will conclude on March 23rd, promising to be grand and impressive. At 18:00, the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra, the State Academic Choir “Latvija,” and soloists – Polish soprano Joanna Zavartko, Slovenian mezzo-soprano Monika Bohinec, Ukrainian tenor Oleksandr Chuvpilo, and Latvian National Opera bass Rihards Mačanovskis will perform.
