May 4th in Balvi

The entire Latvia celebrates May 4th - the 34th anniversary of the Restoration of Independence of the Republic of Latvia. Various events will also take place in Balvi. From 12.00, the White Tablecloth Festival will be held in the courtyard of the Balvi Culture and Recreation Center, together with 'Real Latvian Hostesses' and the folk ensemble 'Saivenis' from Bērzpils parish. Visitors will have the opportunity to purchase specially prepared food for the celebration and taste the festive cake. A special sense of community and various activities will allow spending the day in a pleasant atmosphere.

At 17.00, a music and poetry performance 'Imants un Ziedonis' will take place at the Balvi Culture and Recreation Center. Imants Kalniņš's songs with lyrics by Imants Ziedonis will sound. Together with the choir 'Mirklis' and soloists Dagmāra Laicāne, Angelīna Krivošejeva, Oskars Jesks, the musicians Zoja Zaharova (violin), Klēra Kuļikauska (flute), Ģirts Ripa (piano), Mārcis Kalniņš (percussion), Aldis Prancāns (bass guitar) under the direction of conductor Uldis Kokars will participate in the performance.
