The Eight Creatures Festival 2025
The Ojārs Vācietis Museum (Riga, Ojāra Vācieša Street 19) invites families and children to the “Eight Creatures Festival” on May 17 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, marking the beginning of Museum Night events at the Ojārs Vācietis family home in Pārdaugava.
Since 1993, the Ojārs Vācietis Museum (in Riga, Ojāra Vācieša Street 19) has been hosting the “Eight Creatures Festival” for children annually, as Ojārs Vācietis's poetry remains an integral part of growing up, learning to read, and discovering the world of poetry.
At 4:00 PM, the Jaunpiebalga folklore group “Piebaldzēni” (led by Ieva Damroze) will perform, guiding attendees through a path of folk songs and games.
The creative workshop from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM offers the joys of drawing in “Dream in a Pocket” with artist Katrīna Ķīse and the museum's muse Dora Pauzere.
From 6:00 PM to 6:40 PM, characters from Roze Stiebra's animated films will intertwine with music in the program “Dear Little Spots,” featuring songs from the Riga Cathedral Girls' Choir TIARA's concert performance “Want a Little Mischief.” This is dedicated to the memory of director Roze Stiebra.
Throughout the event, visitors can explore the museum—the home where Ojārs Vācietis lived with his family, call the poet on the phone, investigate Ludmila Azarova's drawers, and view the exhibitions “Reflections. Echoes,” “Gauja Mosaic,” and “Bits and Faces.”
Entrance to the event is free of charge.
The event will be photographed. Photos and videos may be used in the museum's publicity activities.
