BROADWAY – World Musical Hits 19.12.2026

Okoncert presents: world musical hits in the programme – BROADWAY

“Mamma Mia!”, “Chicago”, “Jesus Christ Superstar”, “Cats”, “West Side Story”, “The Phantom of the Opera”...

Music from legendary musicals that have been performed on Broadway and in the West End for decades and have long since become part of world music culture.

The BROADWAY programme will feature famous arias and songs from musicals spanning different eras—from the classics of the genre to compositions known far beyond the musical theatre stage.

The vocal parts will be performed by soloists of the Latvian National Opera. Their voices will be joined by an ensemble of instruments unusual for Broadway music—organ, violin, cello and percussion.

Performers:

Jūlija Vasiļjeva – soprano

Artjoms Safronovs – tenor

Irina Viļegžaņina – cello

Gidons Grīnbergs – violin

Virdžīnija Laube-Vītiņa – percussion

Ilona Birģele – organ

This combination of instruments will allow familiar compositions to be heard anew—from intimate musical moments to powerful climaxes featuring the entire ensemble.

Beneath the neo-Gothic vaults of St Paul’s Church, the church’s expansive acoustics, architecture and lighting design will lend the familiar music a special grandeur.

BROADWAY—a dazzling end to the year accompanied by the music of legendary musicals.
