Comedy “A HELL OF A GOOD DAY” | Liepāja | ADDITIONAL PERFORMANCE

A hell of a good comedy. Simply perfect when everything goes wrong—and that is exactly why it turns out so brilliantly good.

Have you ever met a stranger in the bathroom? Have you ever decided to save your reputation with the help of an actor and interfered in someone else’s life in order to save your own? Have you ever witnessed well-hidden passions suddenly exploding like a bottle of champagne? If not, then it is time to see it!

The stage hit A Hell of a Good Day by British playwright Donald Churchill, in a witty production by Dž. Dž. Džilindžers. It is a comedy that blows the shell of propriety wide open and shakes out everything we hide in everyday life. This is one of Churchill’s most frequently staged plays, cherished by theatres around the world for several decades. After its premiere at Watford Palace Theatre, it enjoyed a triumphant tour across the United Kingdom, ten years of success in Germany, applause in France, and ovations from audiences in at least 25 other countries around the world, including the United States, Italy, South Africa, and Israel. And now—in Latvia!

A Hell of a Good Day takes a look behind the scenes of England’s upper class. Beneath the veneer of apparent politeness and sophistication, tension, jealousy, and a desire for justice—or at least proper revenge—are smouldering. Unexpected twists, poorly masked emotions, and unabashed passions: that is how a summer afternoon will unfold when all the characters, intentionally or by chance, meet in a London flat. A decorator with acting ambitions, brushes, and Shakespeare in his backpack; a temperamental society lady with a plan that must not be ruined; and an enraged “ex” armed with a wooden hammer, a desire for revenge, and the determination to “tell everyone everything”… What could possibly go wrong? EVERYTHING!!!
