The poetry slam planned in Rogovka is one of the traditional September Poetry Day events. A poetry slam is a movement of poetry that has revived interest in contemporary poetry in Latvia and worldwide (internationally known as “Poetry slam”). It is based on a set competition among poets, during which authors read their works in front of an audience, and the winner of this competition is determined by the voting of the judges and the audience.
A special feature of the event will be the premieres of three new compositions, created by the band “Sovvaļnīks” and the Rēzekne district vocal studio “Skonai”, set to the poetry of last year's winner Silvestrs.
The association “TKP – Tā kā pērn” was born from the synergy of ethno musicians Julgī Staltis and Ēriks Zeps in the Latvian movement “3×3” camps at the beginning of this century, performing exactly once a year and “as last year”. Songs and stories from all over Latvia through time, woven into music. They sound like the setting sun of the year, like the journey of life, like conversations between Gods and spirits. Their music speaks of the fusion of the Livonian people and Baltic tribes through song, through love, through our land.
The event is invited by the Rēzekne district Culture and Tourism Department, the Nautrāni association management, and the Latgalian cultural movement “Volūda” with the support of the State Culture Capital Foundation.
