Poetry Festival at “Jasmuiža”

Rainis Museum “Jasmuiža” (Aizkalne, Preiļi Municipality) invites you to the Poetry Festival on September 19 at 12:00 PM, where elementary school students will have the opportunity to meet poet Ērika Bērziņa and participate in her poetry workshop. Meanwhile, around 1:30 PM, Inga Gaile will present her poetry to older students and adults.

Ērika Bērziņa is a poet, editor, and journalist. She writes poems for both children and adults. Since 2014, her children's poetry has been published in the annual poetry anthology “Garā pupa”. Her poetry collection “Mammas dzejoļi” was nominated for the Latvian Literature Award in 2021 in the “Best Work for Children” category. Ē. Bērziņa is the editor-in-chief of the magazines “Mans Mazais” and “Pūcīte”.

Poet, writer, and playwright Inga Gaile is the author of several novels, poetry collections, plays, and a short story collection. Her poetry collection “Lieldienas” was nominated for the Latvian Literature Award in 2018, the collection “Kūku Marija” received the Poetry Day Award in 2007, the collection “Laiks bija iemīlējies” won the Klāvs Elsbergs Prize, and “raudāt nedrīkst smieties” received the Anna Dagda and Ojārs Vācietis Prizes.

The Poetry Day events will take place in the museum's open-air area, and in case of unsuitable weather conditions, they will be held in the premises of Aizkalne Community Center.

Pre-registration is required for Ērika Bērziņa's poetry workshop. The number of places is limited.
