Deep Frequencies
On March 22 at 4:00 PM, a creative writing event titled “Deep Frequencies” will take place at Rainis and Aspazija's summer house (in Jūrmala, at Jānis Pliekšāns Street 5/7). The event offers an opportunity to explore oneself through words and give in to imagination accompanied by low-frequency bass music played by DJ Toms Bumbulis.
During the event, the space will transform into a giant diary where thoughts will be laid out on large sheets of paper, allowing each participant to express themselves freely through writing or drawing. The event will be led by museum specialist Amanda Kaufmane, who draws inspiration from Rainis's diary entries and the poet's attempts to overcome creative barriers.
Visitors to the event will be invited to participate in both calm thought recording and spontaneous brainstorming, as well as contributing to the ideas of others. The main element of the atmosphere will be the sounds of low-frequency bass, which will help participants break free from conventional thinking patterns and embrace creativity. The low-frequency bass music will be played by Toms Bumbulis.
Rainis also carefully observed his flow of thoughts and creative productivity. As literary scholar Gundega Grīnuma writes, Rainis concluded that he generated 80–100 thoughts daily, but only a mere 1–3% of them made it into his diary. He himself acknowledged: “A stove that gives only 5% heat is a very weak stove. I need to better construct the use of thought.”
This event invites everyone to experience a similar process – to become an observer of one's own thoughts and allow the creative flow, capturing the moment when a new idea emerges.
Entrance fee: 2.00 euros; for schoolchildren, students, seniors: 1.50 euros.
Photo and video materials may be published on online resources and used in museum publicity activities.
