The Fragrance of Life

On August 30th from 11:00 AM, for the third consecutive year, the Garden Festival will be held at the Stoļerova Summer Garden, filled with work, joy, and inspiring events.
The day will begin with a communal planting of ornamental plants – we invite you to create a new hedge, symbolizing care for the environment and community sustainability. The ornamental plants will be planted with thoughts of the future – to grow alongside the people who plant them.
Following this, there will be an educational lecture “Invasive Plants – Strangers in Our Gardens,” where visitors will learn about plants that threaten the local ecosystem and how to identify and manage them in their surroundings. (in collaboration with nature education specialist Diāna Selecka)
During the event, creative workshops will also take place:

• “Flight” – using colorful paper and natural materials, there will be an opportunity to create flying insects and birds, which will be placed in a special festival installation in the garden. (Workshop led by Anna Kraule);
• “Herb Mat Weaving” – a workshop where fragrant herbs and flowers will be used to create mats, serving as wall decorations, for example, in a sauna. (Workshop led by Irēna Baltiņa);
•  “Patterns and Flower Games” – during the workshop, participants can select fresh flowers, arrange them carefully, and laminate them to preserve their beauty for a long time. The laminated flowers will then be attached to a jar-shaped cardboard, creating a flower collage (workshop led by the hostess of “Sun Yard,” Aļona Galaja).

At the climax of the Garden Festival, we will give a symbolic thank you to the most diligent environmental enthusiasts and garden caretakers who have sent in photographs of their gardens, greenhouses, flowerbeds, etc., and honor those who, with their hands and hearts, create a more beautiful, greener environment for all of us.
The musical ambiance of the event will be created by musician, songwriter, and singer Ilze Rijniece with her concert program “Burn, Light!” The songs will resonate with the fragrance and richness of summer colors, creating a special festive atmosphere.
