Animal Carnival
The concert for children is includedin the cultural education program “Latvian School Bag”.
The Liepāja SymphonyOrchestra invites young listeners to a fun carnival on November 1st at 10:00 AM, where on the stage of the concert hall“Great Amber”, a lion, elephant, kangaroo, swan, rooster, cuckoo, antelope, turtle, and other animals will meet.
The journey into the world of musicwill be led by conductor Reinis Lapa together with actor Pēteris Lapiņš.
French composer CamilleSaint-Saëns' “Carnival of the Animals” is filled with many joyful and exciting scenes whereanimals converse, play, befriend, and argue. It will be a magical storyand a fantasy-provoking world that will come to life in the sound of the symphony orchestra.
The concert program will beenhanced by one of Robert Schumann's most famous works “Carnival”. Itwas inspired by the carnival that took place in his hometown of Zwickau.In the piece, the composer included some of his friends and himself as characters. The concert will feature selected fragments from this piece, each telling the story of a character or event related to the carnival.
These two compositions are funand colorful, creating a true carnival atmosphere, allowing the audience to imagineand compare how people celebrate and how animals do.
