Sunset at the solstice is a ritual celebration of the summer solstice that has evolved into a tradition at the ruins of Koknese over the years. Every year, we gather at a time when the sun reaches its highest point, marking the longest day and shortest night. The summer solstice is a energetically powerful time when we can draw upon the wise knowledge of our ancestors and tap into the heated power of nature and the universe, thus healing our body and spirit.

This year, the atmosphere of the solstice will be made even more special by the Latvian pop legend - singer and multimedia artist IGO.

The concert program 'Fire' is based on the music of Jānis Strazds and the poetry of Igo. All the pieces in the program are dedicated to the theme of fire and the various manifestations of this element.

The musician has managed to capture a wide range of emotions in the concert program, emotionally touching each listener, and this has already been appreciated by audiences in concerts in many cities in Latvia. In the first part of the 'Fire' concert, songs with lyrics written by Igo will be performed, noticeably influencing the performance - it is particularly personal and inspiring. Meanwhile, in the second part of the concert, pieces from Igo's previous works will be performed - well-known and beloved compositions of the public.

On stage along with IGO, the band 'Vējturi' will perform. 'In this concert, we collaborate with musicians who play ethnic instruments - kokle, panpipes, bagpipes, drums, acoustic and electric guitar, synthesizer, bass guitar. The sound is formed in a very contrasting way, based undoubtedly on the synthesis of modern instruments with ancient instruments,' reveals Igo.

'I believe we have put a lot of energy, love, and creativity into this cycle, and I have a feeling that the audience feels it too,' says composer Jānis Strazds.

Koknese Castle was one of the largest and most significant medieval castles in the territory of Latvia. To some, it may seem like just a small dot on the map of Latvia, but beneath this seemingly insignificant point lies a whole world - charming, slightly mysterious, and definitely worth discovering. There are not many places in Latvia where two rivers - Pērse and Daugava - merge in such a wonderful way, creating a romantic backdrop for the centuries-old Koknese ruins. This is a perfect place to create a cozy and inclusive atmosphere, to enjoy the synergy of music and nature, and to feel the magical aura of this place.
