Performance of 'Mr. Puntila and His Man Matti'
On May 19th at 6:00 PM at Ogre Theatre - musical comedy 'Mr. Puntila and His Man Matti'!
Mr. Puntila and Matti – master and servant. This is a relationship model that has existed in all times and in various forms – in families, at work, in government, and elsewhere. A model that various ideologies, revolutions, and reforms have tried to transform, but in vain... Equality has always remained a distant and unfulfilled dream.
Master Puntila and his servant Matti” is one of the most popular and frequently staged plays by the German playwright and key figure of epic theatre theory Bertolt Brecht. At the heart of the plot inspired by Finnish folk tales is Puntila, who, in his 'master's mind,' is an unusually kind and just person, trying to do good to everyone, but, when sober, turns into a ruthless and evil master.
In this musical comedy, where folk motifs intertwine with the author's characteristic sharp social view, Bertolt Brecht's music is combined with original music by Jānis Kaija.
