Genre - a Path to Home.

The play takes place in Ireland in 1936. It's a story about an Irish family, their ancestral country house, and how this house falls into ruin. A young man returns to his old dilapidated home and, using various objects and memories associated with his family, reminisces about his relatives, reflects on his upbringing, and tries to understand the causes of the familial conflicts that led to the family's collapse.

The events of the play unfold during the summer harvest season. Even almost a hundred years later, this process is still familiar and understandable to residents of various villages and small towns, as well as urban dwellers and people from other parts of Latvia. We wanted to connect this story directly with the Joriks Theatre and how the theatre has evolved and changed its location over the course of its existence. The old house where the theatre was located was destroyed, but a new one emerged. This is a very personal story for each cast member of the play and for the entire Joriks Theatre. The play will show direct parallels with events from our theatre life, and a small theatre model will also be used.

In this play, dances are portrayed as an event that the main characters are very eager to attend because dances are where a man and a woman meet. It's passion. It's love. Our play is about love and encountering one's history and memories.
