The South Kurzeme region offers a variety of events and the opportunity to celebrate Jāņi with family and friends. The event-rich program will help those who have not yet decided where to celebrate Jāņi choose. Both locals and guests are warmly welcomed!
GROBIŅA
On June 20 at 7:00 PM in the Grobiņa castle ruins, a performance by the Grobiņa locals and friends' theatrical group “Limousine in the Jāņi Night Color”.
On June 22 at 1:00 PM in the Grobiņa castle ruins, a Jāņi welcoming event for seniors from the South Kurzeme region and the city of Liepāja. In case of adverse weather, the event will take place in the Grobiņa parish cultural center “Robežnieki”.
AIZPUTE
On June 20 from 6:00 PM to midnight at the foot of the Aizpute castle ruins, a Summer Solstice welcoming event. Workshops, a craftsman and homemade goods market, outdoor games, a concert, and festivities with the Nīca ethnographic ensemble, the folklore group “Rakari”, the folklore group “Ēdol's Ķists”, and the post-folklore group “Kaligo”. Midnight dances.

On June 21 at 8:00 PM in Nīca Park, Summer Solstice celebrations with songs, dances, wreath making, and other festive activities. The evening will conclude with a concert by the post-folk group “Saule ir tuvāk” and the film “Limousine in the Jāņi Night Color”.
DURBE
On June 21 at 6:00 PM at the Durbes Hillfort, a celebration with amateur art groups from the Durbe Culture House “Under the Durbe sky, fields, and summer bloom”. After the concert, a communal evening by the bonfire with singing and dancing.
On June 23 at 10:00 PM at the Durbes Hillfort, a green ball with the band “Sapņu pietura”. Free entry.

On June 21 at 6:00 PM, a Solstice ritual at Pape Ķoņi Village “Vītolnieki”. Singing together, games, Jāņi feast, seeing off the Sun by the sea, and welcoming it in Jānis’ yard by the bonfire. Arrival from 5:00 PM with Jāņi herbs and treats for the festive table.
