Mixed choir "Dziesmuvara" concert story
In the album presentation concert, fans of choir music will be invited to delve into the almost hundred-year-old history of "Dziesmuvara".
The choir has started its 98th season ambitiously - by recording an album with 14 compositions, including dedications to "Dziesmuvara" by various composers. At the beginning of the previous century, several well-known composers, including Jāzeps Vītols, Jēkabs Graubiņš, Ādolfs Ābele, and others, dedicated their works to "Dziesmuvara". These compositions are special because most pre-war recordings have been lost in the mists of time or have only survived as sheet music. "Vara saknes" will be an unusual choral music adventure, where the past intertwines with the future - 20th-century choral music will shine through in unconventional arrangements of folk songs as well as original compositions by the composers.
