On May 9th at 7:00 PM, the Ogre Municipality Cultural Center will host the golden song collection concert "Why Should I Sing Someone Else's Song?" organized by "Latvian Schlager Channel".

This grand concert, "Why Should I Sing Someone Else's Song?", has already been met with enthusiastic applause in many places across Latvia. The significant audience response has inspired organizers and musicians to continue this tradition.

The concert will feature the most popular Latvian pop artists performing songs from the "Latvian Schlager Channel" golden collection.

On stage will be Viktors Lapčenoks, Liene Šomase, Uģis Roze, Lorija Vuda, Guntis Veits, Jenny May, Ainars Bumbieris, Ieva Sutugova, and the children's pop group "Karameles". Also appearing on stage will be Raivo Stašans (saxophone), Anatolijs Livča (piano), Pēteris Liepiņš (bass), Uģis Krūskops (percussion), Artūrs Kutepovs (guitar).

The event will be hosted by "Latvian Radio" personality Elvis Jansons.

Igors Linga, founder and director of "Latvian Schlager Channel", as well as the director and producer of the concert, says: “Every decade has its beloved songs that help awaken, improve mood, make us cry, or, conversely, smile. We have compiled songs that were important to the Latvian people in the 60s to 80s of the last century, as well as those that became beloved during the time of independent Latvia. Old songs never disappear, and we have a duty to carry them forward. What difference does it make who performs the song "About the Last Leaf"? It has always been a gem of all Latvian pop music! We Latvians constantly praise our poets and writers, especially the literary classics. But we have so many fantastic songs to be proud of! They must be heard again and again, even after ten, twenty, and fifty years!”

Ainars Bumbieris adds: “I know how important heartfelt melodies in the native language are to the Latvian people. And as a performer of Latvian pop music, it is an honor for me to sing songs that we can all unite with in one voice together with all the concert attendees!” Jenny May continues: “Nowadays, many new songs become popular for a short while and then disappear. But the compositions that are our core values do not lose their quality: they are heard both at the Song Festival and broadcast on the radio year after year. Through these songs, people feel the history, strength, and soul of their nation. Therefore, I feel very honored to be part of this concert.
