Captain Grant's Children
Imants Kalniņš's music, Knuts Skujenieks's poetry, and Jules Verne's adventure novel have come together in thrilling adventures, in which Captain Grant's children embark on a quest to find their father in the musical show "Captain Grant's Children". The composer's songs were created in the distant year of 1974 for the production at the Latvian National Youth Theatre, directed by Māra Ķimele and with set design by Andris Freibergs. In 2023, a new production will be presented to the audience, created by a creative team that has produced such ambitious musical performances as the rock opera "Lāčplēsis" (2013 and 2018 productions), the musical "Eslingena" (2014), the rock opera "Mauglis" (2021), and other large-scale works.
