Keiko Borjeson is a widely recognized jazz pianist, composer, and vocalist from Tokyo. As a child, she was considered a prodigy, having started playing the piano at the age of three and performing live on television by the age of five. Her impressive childhood memories include meeting Duke Ellington himself when he was touring Japan. Keiko earned her bachelor's degree as a classical music pianist in Tokyo and continued her studies in Italy and the USA. It was in Detroit where her great passion for jazz music began. Her active concert career around the world started in the 1980s and is distinguished by unique improvisational skills and a distinctive, innovative style, largely influenced by the precision of classical music. Each of her compositions narrates a dreamy, positive, and carefree story.
Keiko performs and conducts master classes in Italy, Poland, Lithuania, Sweden, Germany, England, Vietnam, Egypt, Kyrgyzstan, the Philippines, Indonesia, Hong Kong, and more. China's Xinyo University has awarded her the honorary title of professor of jazz music. She has performed at the White House at a reception hosted by President Bush and has released five studio albums.
She supports young artists with her foundation and has visited Latvia several times.
Keiko enjoys improvising in life as well, and her motto is - “Life is all about improvisation. There is no time for rehearsals.”
