Concert “Cantabilis”

​The renowned pianist and master of nuanced interpretation, Andrejs Osokins, together with the wonderful soprano voice of Brigita Reisone, have prepared a concert program offering the most beautiful arias from world and Latvian operas. The program will serve as a bridge between two musical worlds – the fiery passion of Italian opera and the delicate lyrical melancholy of Latvian music. These two worlds will meet in melodic songs, described in Latin with the single word – “Cantabilis”.

​The concert will feature arias from the world’s most famous Italian operas and piano interpretations – masterpieces by Gaetano Donizetti, Vincenzo Bellini, Giacomo Puccini, Pietro Mascagni, and Ruggero Leoncavallo. This is music where every gesture is an experience and every sound a storm of emotions. It is dominated by the art of beautiful singing or bel canto, with unforgettable melodies and sparkling dramaturgy – sounds that rule the heart with a passion-filled force.

​Alongside them, you will hear chamber music masterpieces by Latvian composers – Jāzeps Vītols, Jānis Mediņš, Alfrēds Kalniņš, and others – characterized by a close connection with nature and the spiritual heritage of the nation. In place of the expressiveness of Italian opera, there emerges a deeper, more intimate, and self-reflective soul experience. This is music where silence, depth, and longing reside. It is imbued with the breath of the people, the closeness of nature, and an emotional subtlety that touches with its simplicity and sincerity.

​The concert program “Cantabilis” promises an unforgettable evening where fire and peace, drama and tenderness, the spark of bel canto, and the rhythm of folk songs meet. Between the two types of arias, two cultures will converse to show how diverse and simultaneously unifying music is, and to evoke musical sounds in which listeners will hear not only voices but will experience life in its entirety.

​The collaboration between Brigita Reisone and Andrejs Osokins began at a concert initiated by the “Ola Foundation” cultural space team this past May and now continues, offering the audience an even more splendid and rich program.
