The museum invites you to the 'Autumn Delights' concert at 15:00 in the Fireplace Hall, featuring composer Imants Zemzaris and his talented student Elfa Lejniece. The concert will showcase their latest compositions, as well as selected works by other composers. 'The concert is intended as a splendid spectrum of autumnal moods leading up to a swirling autumn ball,' says Imants Zemzaris. The program includes works by Alfreds Kalniņš, Lūcija Garūta, Emīls Melngailis, Elfa Lejniece, Imants Zemzaris, and others.
Imants Zemzaris is a long-time composition teacher at the Emil Darzins Music School's Music Theory Department. Zemzaris has also fostered collaboration between the Jānis Akuraters Museum and the Emil Darzins Music School, involving both colleagues and students in concert programs. On March 16, 2023, the museum hosted a concert where Elfa Lejniece, not only as a violinist but also as a composer, performed three of her pieces: 'Crocuses', 'Willow's Sorrow' (2019), and 'Moonlit Night' (2023), accompanied by her teacher Imants Zemzaris on the piano. It was an inspiring moment for both musicians and audience. Elfa Lejniece continues to master the art of violin playing under the guidance of her teacher Sanda Šteinberga and explores the secrets of composition with Imants Zemzaris, while also rehearsing her own works and those of other composers. She expresses admiration for the Fireplace Hall at the Akuraters Museum as a space where such concerts sound so organic and are so easy to immerse oneself in as a performer. 'It could become a chamber concert hall in Torņakalns,' adds the violinist...
