Concert Performance “Seekers”
Rainis and Aspazija: Companions in Life, Poetry, and Music
With deep love for our nation, we dedicate our concert performance to the 160th anniversary of the spiritual testament of two great figures – Rainis and Aspazija. It was Rainis who, in his poem “Daugava,” first articulated the idea of Latvian statehood with the words "land – that is the state," and prophetically warned of the psychological contradictions awaiting Latvia after regaining freedom, where dreams may once again remain just dreams.
The idea for the concert performance was initiated by the “Rainis and Aspazija Summer House” museum. In seeking a path to these great minds, we will encounter the poetry of Rainis and Aspazija (spoken and sung), fragments from letters, diaries, and dialogues from Rainis's plays.
