Lāčplēsis Day in Ludza 2024

We invite you to honor Latvia's freedom fighters on Lāčplēsis Day in the city of Ludza!

In November, we invite everyone to a heartfelt and patriotic 'Path of Light' - a day of remembrance, gratitude, and unity, where we honor those who dedicated their lives to our freedom. Together, we will create a bridge of light and remembrance from the past to the present, remembering our national heroes and strengthening our connection to our shared values.

Event program:

14.30 – Moment of Remembrance for the Fallen in Latvia's Freedom Struggles, Ludza City Cemetery;

15.00 – Lāčplēsis Day Service and Prayer for the Soldiers' Acceptance into the Heaven of Ludza's Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church;

16.00 – 'Path of Light' from Church Street to the Municipality Square on Raiņa Street;

After the walk, we will gather in a moment of remembrance 'For the Dearest - for Life and Freedom' with speeches, poetry, songs, and local cuisine;

17.00 – Swearing-in Ceremony of the 32nd Zemessardze Battalion;

18.00 – Concert 'Strong Latvia, Strong Nation!' at Ludza Cultural Center.
