Performance of the Latvian band 'dr.Green' in Riga

On February 10th of this year at 21:00, the Lithuanian ska band 'dr.Green' will perform at the bar Aleponija, which regularly hosts various artists. According to the concert organizers, 'dr.Green' is known for their musical style dominated by punk and skacore. The band was founded in 1996 and in its 12 years of active existence has been the brightest ska example in the Baltic region, performing in small bars and clubs, as well as ambitious festivals in the Baltic and Europe.

Ska is a music style that originated in Jamaica. It has been shaped by several other music styles such as Jamaican traditional music or mento, American jazz, and rhythm and blues. Ska can be considered as a precursor to reggae, skinhead reggae, dancehall reggae, and rocksteady music. There is no band in Latvia that offers music in the ska genre, but 'dr.Green' is also known as the pioneers of Baltic ska. They have recently reunited after a 15-year hiatus.
