Literary Musical Event "Viņas"

On Saturday, March 22, at 12:00 PM, poet Inga Gaile and three musicians – flutist Rūta Īzāka-Mača, violinist Velga Polinska, and pianist Ilze Kundziņa – invite you to a literary musical event "Viņas" at Rainis and Aspazija House in Riga, Baznīcas Street 30.

During the event, the musicians will perform works by female composers from various nations, while Inga Gaile will read poetry by female poets from around the world. "It is impossible to encompass the contributions of female artists, which often remain unnoticed by history and the wider public, but Inga Gaile and the musicians wish to highlight the poets and composers closest to them, allowing the audience to become acquainted with these women who have often had to struggle for the opportunity to work in the fields of art and music," say the event organizers.

Rūta Īzāka-Mača and Ilze Kundziņa have been collaborating with poet Inga Gaile for several years. The program featuring works by contemporary Latvian female composers, along with poetry readings by Inga in her performance "Beyond the Border," has been presented in concerts in Lūznava, Ventspils, Cēsis, Līgatne, Kuldīga, and Riga.

This time, they will be joined by violinist Velga Polinska, together creating an even broader geographical and historical concert program.
