Homeland Still Lives Within Me
On June 14 at 13:00 in Saldus, at the intersection of Lielās and Zaļās ielas, we invite you to remember the victims of the mass deportations of June 14, 1941, at the Memorial Event 'Homeland Still Lives Within Me'.
On June 14, 1941, more than 15,400 Latvian citizens were forcibly deported from Latvia. Some of the deportees were immediately arrested and taken to detention centers. The rest were resettled in Siberia and Kazakhstan. It was the first mass deportation from Latvia.
Homeland still lives within me, in its heart forever
Time's silent threats will not erase it
Homeland still lives within me, uniting us eternally
Across distances, in the fragile fabrics of dreams.
