Concert Program 'In the Frame of Small Paintings' by Paula Saija and Trio Tresensus at Durbe Castle

The annual Historical Parks and Gardens Day 2024 will open with a concert program 'In the Frame of Small Paintings' in the courtyard of Durbe Castle. The performers are Paula Saija and Trio Tresensus.

Participants: Paula Saija (vocals), Trio Tresensus – Līga Griķe (kantele); Aigars Raumanis (saxophone); Uģis Upenieks (percussion instruments).

 

The concert program 'In the Frame of Small Paintings' is a heartfelt and delightful event that combines excellent Latvian contemporary chamber music with beloved and well-known songs in a fresh interpretation. The wonderful singer Paula Saija has selected compositions close to her heart, which in the arrangements of Trio Tresensus acquire a more refined, nuanced, and unusual atmosphere. Paula Saija has often collaborated with Raimonds Pauls, so in this program, alongside Imants Kalniņš and Zigmars Liepiņš' songs, maestro's melodies are included as well.

Meanwhile, the chamber ensemble Trio Tresensus offers the audience to hear the sound paintings of contemporary Latvian composers - the humor-filled 'Variations on Latvian Folk Song Themes' by Gundega Šmite, the philosophically reflective 'Interlude' from the cycle 'Tree of Life' by Uģis Prauliņš, the beautifully magical 'Blooming Jasmines' by Georgs Pelēcis, as well as works by Sniedze Prauliņa and Ēriks Miezis. And a special highlight of the concert - one of the most beautiful Latvian songs of all time - 'In the Frame of Small Paintings' will be performed for the first time in a version for voice, kantele, saxophone, and percussion instruments.

The event takes place at Tukums City Culture House as part of the 'Meeting in Tukums' event series. The Historical Parks and Gardens Day 2024 is organized by the Latvian Castles and Manor Houses Association.
