Moon Maiden

The Rainis and Aspazija Summer House in Jūrmala, at Jānis Pliekšāns Street 5/7, invites you on September 20 at 19:00 for the heavy rock and poetry event “Moon Maiden”, featuring performances by the music groups “Utopia” and “Eclipse”, along with recitations from Rainis's poetry collection “Moon Maiden” (1925).

This year marks the hundredth anniversary of the publication of Rainis's poetry collection “Moon Maiden”. To commemorate this occasion, a special event will be organized where poems from the collection will intertwine with the roar of heavy rock music. The poetry will be read by Ēriks Ralfs Vanags and Amanda Kaufmane, accompanied by an unusual musical improvisation with the heavy rock band “Eclipse”. Thus, Rainis's poetry will gain an unprecedented resonance, merging with the expression of heavy music.

The event is being organized in collaboration with the event management team “From The Archive”, known for organizing cultural and alternative music concerts and events. The team includes Rihards Krievs, Renārs Vežuks, Karlīna Vestermane, and Marta Šķerstiņa.

Evening Program:
19:00 – Concert by the band “Utopia” (grunge, hard rock). Bass guitar – Marta Dzalbe, drums – Mārtiņš Volkovs, guitar – Alekss Vējiņš, guitar and vocals – Kristofers Birks.
20:00 – Reading of poems from Rainis's collection “Moon Maiden” performed by Ēriks Ralfs Vanags and Amanda Kaufmane, accompanied by the band “Eclipse”.
20:30 – Concert by the band “Eclipse” (post-hard rock). Bass guitar – Renārs Vežuks, drums – Kārlis Suneps, guitar – Marta Šķerstiņa, guitar and vocals – Kristians Elliņš.

Throughout the event, the cafe “Anna's Pizza” will be open, a family business from Jūrmala that started as part of the home cafe days. This way, the beloved September tradition of enjoying culture at the museum together with gastronomy continues at the summer house.

The atmosphere of the event will be enhanced by the lighting of Toms Bumbulis, and the visual theme of the event is created by graphic designer Linda Zvejniece. The result will be an artistic experience of sound, light, rock music, and moon ambiance.
