The Scottish post-rock giants Mogwai will soon arrive in Riga to take the audience on an atmospheric and mesmerizing musical journey. An unforgettable evening is guaranteed on September 9 at the Palladium concert hall. Members of the FBI and Positivus Festival concert club, as well as Delfi+ subscribers, can purchase tickets in advance starting February 26 at 10:00 AM, using a code that will be sent to registered users.

Mogwai's compositions are commonly referred to as post-rock in music terminology – an atmospheric, guitar-based sound substance that offers a meditative experience, making one forget the concept of time. Even the space where you physically are plays no role, as it is so filled with sounds that nothing else fits. Therefore, in Mogwai's post-rock, lyrics are unnecessary, which would also take some attention or all of it, leaving the sounds created by instruments only as an accompaniment.

Mogwai is a Scottish post-rock band formed in 1995 in Glasgow. Since its founding, the lineup has included Stuart Braithwaite, Barry Burns, Dominic Aitchison, and Martin Bulloch. Mogwai's debut single “Tuner”/“Lower” was released in February 1996, and the internationally prestigious British music magazine “NME” (“New Musical Express”) recognized their track “Summer” as the week's best single (“Single of the week”) at the end of that same year, granting the same status to the next one –  “New Paths to Helicon”. With this, they had already gained a following, which grew with each new album.

The band's music stimulates the imagination and is not hard to envision as a vivid auditory accompaniment to screen works. In 2006, the soundtrack created by Mogwai was featured in the film “Zidane: A 21st Century Portrait”, which was later released as a separate album. In the same year, the songs “Auto Rock” and “We’re No Here” were used in the movie “Miami Vice”, and in collaboration with Clint Mansell and the “Kronos Quartet”, a soundtrack for the film “The Fountain” was recorded. Mogwai also specifically created a piece for the “Amnesty International” charity project “Peace” in 2010. This was followed by a series of collaborations, with the most recent being the music for the “Apple TV+” series “Black Bird”, released as an unusually short track album for the band in 2022.
