"Our Value Stories"

On May 17th this year, Dobele Municipality Museum and Dobele Castle invite everyone to the International Museum Night 2025, which will be held in Latvia for the 21st time this year. The unifying theme of the event – "Our Value Stories" – inspires museums across Latvia to highlight the most significant values preserved in their collections and share them with the public.

At the Dobele Municipality Museum (Brīvības Street 7), various exciting activities for the whole family will take place from 7:00 PM to 12:00 AM:

7:00 PM – Opening of the museum collection exhibition “Curriculum vitae: Dobele” and the premiere of the short film “Dr. Francmanis”

7:30 PM–12:00 AM Short films from the series “Places/Things/People”

7:00 PM–12:00 AM Illuminated art installation “FaceBox” by Agnese Melbārde

7:00 PM–11:00 PM Interactive Photo Box

7:30 PM–10:00 PM Knotted bracelet workshop

7:30 PM–12:00 AM “Glitter and Shine” – creative workshop for shiny cards

9:00 PM–10:00 PM Songs and music by Jēkabs Nīmanis

11:00 PM – Night tour of Dobele city

Meanwhile, at Dobele Castle (Brīvības Street 2c), visitors will be welcomed in the castle courtyard, basement, great hall, 2nd-floor exhibition hall, and on the rooftop terrace.

This year's museum night theme is “Our Value Stories”. Dobele Castle's value lies in its history, so during the museum night, visitors can explore each historical phase of the castle.

6:00 PM - 11:00 PM Exhibition of archaeological items from the Dobele Municipality Museum collection “Items found during the archaeological excavations conducted in 2018 during the castle reconstruction process”.

6:00 PM - 7:00 PM Archaeologist Andris Tomašūns's presentation about the items found during the 2018 archaeological excavations during the castle reconstruction process.

6:00 PM - 9:00 PM Activities in the castle courtyard:

                        Archery and crossbow shooting, coin minting.

                        Educational workshop "The Story of the Dandelion"

8:00 PM - 9:30 PM Concert by the musical ensemble "Intersection"

9:30 PM - 11:00 PM Outdoor cinema - animated film "Stream"

Throughout the evening, visitors can enjoy delicious food from the “Mammadaba” mobile café van “Fritiņš”. Delicious waffles will be offered by “Wafelnihca”, while drinks will be provided by the coffee van “PAROLE coffee”.

Admission to the event is free, but a small fee may apply to certain activities in the Dobele Castle courtyard.
