Museum Night at Āraiši Lake Castle

On Saturday, May 17, from 18:00 to 24:00, a Museum Night event will take place at the Āraiši Lake Castle Archaeological Park.

This year, the Museum Night program will be like stepping into a “Time Machine,” offering a unique opportunity to experience both medieval activities with the historical research and reconstruction club “Rodenpoys” and modern/future experiences—engaging in the development process with an augmented reality (AR) avatar that will greet you at the museum, a virtual reality (VR) educational experience about the reconstruction of the lake castle buildings, and a real-time translator for our live tours and craft demonstrations. Key features include voice-guided personalized tours.

In the Medieval Castle Ruins:

19:00-24:00 Medieval Activities:

A soldier's tent with medieval equipment and board games;

Torch workshop / we will make 40 authentic medieval torches and join the castle guards on a night patrol;

Combat run;

Creating an exciting story of the castle night watch, where you can step into the role of a medieval castle guard.
The opportunity to photograph yourself in armor and participate in a combat run;

In the medieval culinary studio, there will be an opportunity to participate in an authentic medieval field kitchen demonstration and tasting/ The soup will be ready from 20:30 – 21:00.

21:40 Night patrol around the castle. We invite you to bring torches so we can light the way.
