On September 20th, an event will take place at Ugāle Community Hall “Gaisma” to honor the renowned Latvian poet Aspazija on her 160th birthday.

The evening's program will commence at 6:00 PM with a conversation with writer Inga Ābele, led by Inga Ieviņa. It will provide insights into the significance of literature and the creative process, as well as address the relevance of Aspazija's work in contemporary times.

At 7:00 PM, the audience will have the opportunity to experience a musical-literary event—a poetry concert titled “A Tale Sits on the Threshold…”, featuring guitarist Mārcis Auziņš and singer Beāte Zviedre. In their performance, Aspazija's poetry will gain a new resonance, intertwining with the melodies of well-known composers Jānis Lūsēns, Raimonds Pauls, and Zigmars Liepiņš, specially arranged for this concert. The program also includes original compositions interspersed with poetry readings, creating an ethereal and artistically rich collage.

The event “Poetry Days. Aspazija at 160” invites you to a gathering where literature and music unite, ensuring that Aspazija's name and her works continue to inspire audiences across generations.
