Child of Restlessness
On June 27 at 6:00 PM, the Rainis and Aspazija House, located at 30 Baznīcas Street in Riga, invites you to a poetry evening titled “Child of Restlessness,” where five contemporary poets from different generations – Elvīra Bloma, Inga Gaile, Līva Marta Roze, Liepa Rūce, and Sintija Sudmale – will read their poetry. The event will be hosted by Anna Auziņa.
“Child of Restlessness” is a poem written by Aspazija in the early 20th century as part of her lyrical autobiography “A Bouquet of Flowers.” In it, the poet expresses the idea that her life's mission is to stir up unrest, even though it would be more comfortable to spend time peacefully: “It is not meant for me to stand, / I am not allowed to rest.”
In the year of Aspazija's 160th anniversary, five contemporary poets from different generations, all considered “children of restlessness” of their time, will read their works at the poetry evening at the Rainis and Aspazija House, similarly to Aspazija, always ahead of their era: “The time has not yet come, / But already sends me!”
Participants include Elvīra Bloma, Inga Gaile, Līva Marta Roze, Liepa Rūce, and Sintija Sudmale, hosted by Anna Auziņa.
Entrance fee: 2.00 EUR, students: 1.50 EUR.
The poetry evening is supported by the State Culture Capital Foundation, the Association of Memorial Museums, and the Rainis and Aspazija House.
