Festival of Unusual Sounds and Performances “ECHO”
The festival of unusual sounds and performances “ECHO” returns to Laidi Manor.
From June 28 to August 16 – open-air concerts, installations, creative workshops, and light performances at the artist residence of Laidi Manor.
The summer at Laidi Manor promises to be rich with unique experiences of sound, light, and movement – the “ECHO” festival returns with an ambitious program, combining interactive sound installations, music, contemporary performances, and creative workshops. This is an invitation to encounter art in an unusual way and closer to nature – in the picturesque Kuldīga region, where the ancient Laidi Manor has become a modern cultural space.
The “ECHO” festival will take place from June 28 to August 16, offering visitors eight special program days, where artists from various fields will challenge the usual perceptions of sound, space, and presence.
The festival program includes:
Interactive sound, movement, and light installations and world music performances:
06/28 – Artist Artis Kuprišs and musician Hamidreza Rahbaralam will kick off the festival with experimental installations and world music sound experiences, continuing with a musical journey created by musicians Rishi & Dhwani and concluding with a multidimensional light, sound, and movement performance (Anna Meldrāja and Ieva Matveja).
Gong meditations and meditative sound environments:
06/29 – Vigo Račevskis will offer a gong sound meditation “Journey Within”.
Historical instruments, experimental music, and contemporary composition:
07/05 – Concert of ancient music with Adriāna Marta Gotlube.
07/18 – Performance of poetry and music by Jēkabs Nīmanis and Elīza Dombrovska.
Contemporary art workshop:
07/19 – Experimental creative workshop with artist Paula Vītola, where nature, senses, and technology will merge into a unified performance. All who are interested in the fusion of various senses, technology, and sound experiences into a unified system or artistic process are invited.
Voice improvisation:
07/26 – Vocal artist Dana Indāne will perform, introducing the 8 female archetypes of C. Jung and their various characters through voice.
Self-made musical instruments and collaborative performance creation:
08/09 – All-day masterclasses with Tom Ceļmeijer and Maksim Šenteļev, where self-created musical instruments will transform into tools of communication and mutual collaboration.
Closing evening with the synergy of light and sound:
08/16 – Concert experience – a journey into the world of sounds with Agnese Dzjamko, Jānis Tumpelis, Einārs Latiševs, followed by a night illumination performance on the manor grounds.
The festival events will take place at Laidi Manor, which over the past three years has become a creative cultural space and an active artist residence in the Latvian countryside. The manor's environment is special – here, the breath of the era, the presence of nature, and impulses of contemporary art meet. Visitors are given the opportunity to immerse themselves as both a listener and a co-creator, participating in workshops, meditative sessions, and unusual light performances late at night.
ENTRY TO ALL EVENTS IS FREE
The goal of the “ECHO” festival is to make contemporary art accessible to everyone – regardless of age, education, or artistic experience. This is an invitation to be present, open, and allow art to resonate within oneself.
