From Midsummer to Peter's Day 2024
On Friday, June 28, at 19:00, an amateur collective concert 'From Midsummer to Peter's Day' will take place, featuring ensembles from Rēzekne city and Rēzekne district.
After the celebration of Līgo and Jāņi, summer will slowly turn towards the other side. Lūznava Manor invites you to a concert to welcome Peter's Day. Latvians used to celebrate Peter's Day as a continuation of Jāņi festivities. With Peter's Day, the midsummer festivity ends, transitioning the focus from Jānis to Pēteris. Pēteris, much like the previously celebrated Jāņi, marks a time of young girls' and boys' insights and hopes, when agreements are also sealed, known as 'saderināšanos' in Latvian. Peter's Day celebrations are characterized by cheerfulness and dancing.
In the courtyard of Lūznava Manor, on a warm summer evening, the concert program 'From Midsummer to Peter's Day' will feature joyful and flowing songs and dances imbued with various midsummer moods and traditions, as well as new compositions by Ilona Rupaine and Mārcis Lipskis for the mixed choir, and cadence dances choreographed by Marta Dreļa to arrangements of folk melodies.
During the concert, in live music performances, you will see many beloved Song and Dance Festival dances, hear premieres, and be able to sing and dance along!
Participating in the concert: JDK DZIGA, VPDK DZIMTA, cadence dance group LŪZNOVYS KADRIĻS, mixed choir of MIKC LATGALES SCHOOL OF MUSIC AND ARTS; musicians: Mārcis Lipskis, Marts Dreļs, Kristians Justs, Jurģis Lipskis.
The concert is supported by the VKKF target program for the development and sustainability of intangible cultural heritage values in 2023.
