Serious Comedy “All In!” | Liepāja

There are people who paint, people who sing, others play the piano, climb mountains, ride bikes, or go for long walks. Everyone enjoys life according to their preferences and possibilities. But if life's rapid twists throw you out of the boat and you are forced to find a solution in middle age, often a dead end ensues.

When you resolutely go to the bank to ask for a loan, but they don't give it to you because you're too old, and you have neither a guarantor nor collateral, and your sister, in helplessness, is already placing her heavy hand on your shoulder to push you to your knees, driven by despair, you can only utter to the bank director's face: “If you don't give me the loan, I will seduce and sleep with your wife.”

This will be a truly thrilling survival battle between two actors.

“Working with Jordi Galceran's brilliantly written play “All In!” (original title “The Credit”), as a director, I am always drawn to the opportunity to delve deeper than the surface layer. And if you manage to reach the core, then almost always the resulting satisfaction is much greater. This time is no exception, and creating a performance together with two of my generation's leading actors - Artis Robežnieks and Normunds Laizāns, is not only an unprecedented experience but also a creative challenge, as both masters have dedicated the best years of their lives to the stage and know the craft, thus excellently complementing the collaboration with their contributions. This play is cunning. In a good way, of course. It entertains, shakes up, and poses questions. Our jointly chosen designation for the genre of the performance, “serious comedy,” is not accidental. It provides an opportunity to talk about serious matters through jokes, and vice versa,” describes the director Intars Rešetins-Pētersons about his vision and the play.
