NYX TRIO, as a chamber music ensemble, has been actively performing for more than ten years, staging works by both Latvian and international composers. The chamber ensemble's repertoire spans eras from the Baroque to the present day, including newly composed works written for the ensemble. The chamber music program “Court Music” is designed with the concert venues in mind—architectural gems of Latvia, such as manors and castles. It will feature works by European and Latvian composers for flute, violin, and piano.
Although the concert program chronologically covers many centuries and is not crafted as a reflection of architectural ideas in music, its sound language, themes, and content introduce the aesthetics and atmosphere characteristic of castles and manors. NYX TRIO has always paid great attention to promoting the works of Latvian composers, initiating new creations, and reviving less frequently performed pieces in concert life. This time, some rarely played musical gems are intentionally included—Juris Karlsons' 'Variations-Reminiscence' for flute, violin, and piano. With the chamber music program “Court Music,” we also wish to recall the works of J.G. Mītels, the organist of St. Peter's Church in Riga, a famous keyboardist and composer of his time. The concerts will feature J.G. Mītels' Sonata for flute and piano. Meanwhile, the central piece, inspiring the title of the chamber music program, is Jean Françaix's Trio “Court Music” for flute, violin, and piano, which will resonate with Philippe Gaubert's trio “Ancient Medallions” and Henri Rabaud's Andante and Scherzo, leading listeners into the labyrinth of historical court dance sensations.
