Oblicus.
On Wednesday, July 2, at the cultural space "Hanzas Perons" in Riga, the dance performance 'Oblicus' created by the choreographer and dancer duo 'IevaKrish' will take place.
This is my and your contemporary love story, our contemporary sutartinė.
A self-portrait of our ambitions, vulnerabilities, and burnout.
It is my attempt to be with you. An attempt to blend with you, while preserving myself. To disappear into you, to fold you into me. In art, there are no compromises - there is only truth - mine and yours. Mine or yours.
Because I love you, I no longer want to choose - mine or yours. My perception of time or your perception of time.
Where is our shared time? “Oblicus” is a passionate exploration in the world of polyphonic dance, aiming to create a mesmerizing duet where parallel rhythms intertwine and the feeling of contrasting personal and shared time flow is highlighted. The concept of “oblicus” - neither parallel nor straight, but also neither together nor apart (from Latin meaning oblique or slanting), weaves through the overall composition of dance, sound, and light with elegant asymmetry, metaphorically reflecting the nuances of mutual relationships between two people and their efforts to understand each other. In the impressive tapestry of choreography, the two-voice (contrapuntal) movement chain structures emerge as the fundamental elements of expression, reflecting the longing for absolute understanding and the impossible fusion into one whole. In this Universe of dance, time is not a linear, immutable dimension, but rather an individually defragmented process that evolves. “Oblicus” is a metaphysical love duet.
