The Fern Flower
Cēsis is a perfect place for a literary hike – where history, nature, and culture merge into one beautiful landscape!
When the Midsummer bonfires have burned out and only the fragrance of wreaths remains in the meadow, on Thursday, June 26, at 4:00 PM, Cēsis Central Library organizes the second hike of the event series “Four Seasons Literary Hikes” titled “The Fern Flower.” Shortly after the culmination of the solstice, we will venture outside the city – all the way to the Gauja River. This will be an event where literature meets sensuality, ancient Latvian beliefs, and the brave words of today.
Latvian folksongs, like delicate, feminine, and magical threads of poetry, accompany us to the lines of modern poetry, where the same power resonates with different words but the same feelings. During the hike, both classic texts with a sensual touch and works by contemporary authors discussing intimacy, femininity, masculinity, desire, longing, and the relationship with nature will be read. All this will be experienced not in an event hall but in the living space – in the forest, meadow, by the river, where literature meets life.
The hike is approximately 5 km long.
Limited spots available! Participation in the hike is free, with prior registration required by June 20!
*The event is intended for adults (18+).
