“Truly a Legend. Ray Charles”
On September 6th at 19:00 in Kuldīga, at the Kuldīga Cultural Center, the “Mirage Jazz Orchestra” will perform together with Uros Peric from Slovenia.
The new concert program by the “Mirage Jazz Orchestra” is dedicated to one of the most renowned African American musicians, a soul music legend, singer, saxophonist, and pianist, the recipient of 17 Grammy Awards, Ray Charles (Ray Charles Robinson, 1930-2004). This year, on September 23rd, he would have celebrated his 95th birthday. The program has been developed in collaboration with pianist, singer, and performer of songs from the “golden age” of blues, jazz, and soul music, Uros Peric Perry (Slovenia) and the vocal group “Karameles”.
Listeners will gain insight into Ray Charles's unique artistry, which combines influences from soul music, jazz, blues, country, and gospel, once again highlighting and emphasizing the close connection between European, including Latvian, jazz and the roots and traditions of African American music in the USA.
