Patriots Week in Marupe Region 2024

Celebrating Lāčplēsis Day andthe 106th Anniversary of the Proclamation of the Republic of Latvia, we invite you to gather,sing together, and unite throughout the region - a grand event program awaits you during Patriots Week in Marupe Region.   

The festive week will begin on November 9th at 18:00 at the Marupe Cultural Center with the patriotic song concert program “We Are” by the mixed choir “Mārupe”, featuring the ensemble “Altera veritas.”  

On LāčplēsisDay, November 11th, at 12:00, we will meet with historian Māris Ribicki for a moment of remembrance for the heroes fallen in Latvia's fight for freedom(at the memorial stone in Jaunmārupe, near the Viesturi Golf Club). In the evening, at 18:00, we will embark on the traditional candlelit walk, starting from Marupe State Gymnasium to the memorial stele in Marupe Cemetery, and after the walk, we will enjoy a concert by musician Jurs Kaukuļš. In Piņķi, residents are invited to bring their own candle to place it in the communal outline of Latvia in front of Piņķi Church and at 19:00, we will watch the film “The Land That Sings!”,which tells of the power of song, unique personalities, and the origins of the Song Festival traditions. Tickets for the film will be available from November 1st at the Babīte Cultural Education Center. Meanwhile, in Spuņciema, a special event is planned for the festive evening - at 19:00 at the Babīte Cultural Education Center branch “Vietvalži”, the mixed choir of Salas parish will perform for the first time under the direction of conductor Gundega Dūda-Dzene and musician Guntis Veits.  

On November 12th at 19:00 at the Babīte Cultural Education Center branch, the film “The Land That Sings!” will be screened (tickets will be available from November 1st at the branch's reception), while on November 14th at 19:00, we invite you to a lecture on “The Role of Eduards Pāvuls' Soldiers”.  

On November 16th at 18:00, the group “Sestā jūdze” will visit the Marupe Cultural Center with a concert presenting their latest album “Sing Me Home”. Tickets available at “Ticket Paradise” box offices. 

On November 17th at 17:00 at the Babīte Cultural Education Center, we will celebrate the Anniversary of the Proclamation of the Republic of Latvia together with the group “Tautumeitas”. Free entry tickets will be available from November 1st at the Babīte Cultural Education Center; seating is limited.  

The culmination of the festive week, on November 18th, we will rejoice in two splendid concerts. At 12:00 at the Babīte Cultural Education Center branch “Vietvalži”, the concert “My Song for Latvia” will feature musicians Ieva Kerēvica, Pauls Saija, and Ivo Grīsniņš-Grīslis. Free entry tickets can be obtained from November 1st to the 12th at the branch's reception. At 18:00 in the courtyard of the Marupe Cultural Center, the grand concert “Almost a Folk Song” in celebration of the 106th Anniversary of the Proclamation of the Republic of Latvia will take place, featuring the group “Pērkons”. The concert will also feature the daughter of the legendary musician Jurs Kulakovs, Justīne Kulakova-Sipņevska, and three Latvian tenors - Nauris Puntulis, Guntars Ruņģis, and Miervaldis Jenčs.
