Genealogy Research Seminar
Rainis Museum “Tadenava” invites enthusiasts to participate in a seminar on family history research, which will take place on November 2, 2024, at 11:00 AM. The lecturer will be one of the leading genealogy researchers in Latvia, the creator of the database ciltskoki.lv, Egils Turss.
The seminar will offer an insight into the basics of genealogy or family history research and provide practical tips and advice for those who wish to explore their family history. Lecturer Egils Turss, who is one of the most experienced genealogy researchers, will share his knowledge about sources for genealogical research, their acquisition and usage, as well as current tools, digital databases, and methods available to every researcher.
The seminar will cover the following topics:
- research methods and sources: where and how to find genealogical sources;
- use of modern technology in genealogy research (digital archives, databases, and online resources).
The seminar is useful for everyone interested in their family history, both beginners and experienced researchers. Attendees are invited to submit questions via email to seek solutions and answers together with other researchers during the seminar. To explore the possibilities of databases and search for materials of interest during the seminar, participants are encouraged to bring a laptop.
The project “Genealogy Research Seminars in Tadenava” is implemented with the financial support of the State Cultural Capital Foundation's target program “Development Program for Latvian Historical Lands” through the project competition “Cultural Program of Selonia.”
