Riga Guitar Quartet

The Riga Guitar Quartet brings together the most talented and active classical guitar masters of the younger generation, Kārlis Matīss Zitmanis, Miks Akots, and Kaspars Niklasons, joined by their teacher, the legendary guitar virtuoso Kaspars Zemītis.
Kārlis Matīss Zitmanis is often seen as part of the band Sudden Lights, performing not only across Latvia but also in Europe. Kārlis is very enthusiastic, which naturally led him to the idea of founding a guitar quartet that would include the highest quality pieces for a guitar ensemble in its repertoire.
Kaspars Niklasons is a musician and guitarist who actively composes his original music for both solo guitar and other instrumental ensembles. He has gained extensive experience in composing theater music, creating musical accompaniments for more than ten performances. The musician has released two studio albums that have been nominated for the Golden Microphone Music Record of the Year Awards.
Miks Akots has been learning guitar for 15 years. During this time, he has participated in concerts and competitions both in Latvia and abroad. A memorable moment was his victory in the Latvian television competition “Created for Music.” On a daily basis, Miks teaches guitar at the Jāzeps Mediņš Riga 1st Music School and Pāvuls Jurjāns Music School and performs with various ensembles.
Kaspars Zemītis is one of the most renowned guitarists in Latvia, also widely recognized as a composer and educator. He regularly performs with well-known and beloved Latvian singers such as Intars Busulis and Abonementa Orķestris, Daumants Kalniņš, Renārs Kaupers, Elza Rozentāle, and actively participates in various musical projects, collaborating with Latvia's best musicians in both academic and popular music genres.All members of the quartet play acoustic guitars, exploring and discovering the rich timbre palette and nuanced musical language of this instrument. The concert will feature both original compositions by the musicians and works and arrangements by internationally recognized composers – a promise of an exciting musical adventure where mastery, creativity, and harmonious sound come together.
