Riga Street Festival in Daugavpils 2025

On September 13th this year at 8:00 PM, the already traditional Riga Street Festival will take place in Daugavpils, with this year's theme being “DAUGAVPILS, 7 and a HALF centuries of “EXISTENCE, HOPE, LOVE””.

The Riga Street Festival has become an integral part of Daugavpils' cultural life, a significant tradition that audiences can experience and extend further through the interplay of light and shadow, music, visual arts, dance, and artisan workshops. As the festival organizers point out: “The Riga Street Festival is a story along one street, encompassing the city's diverse artistic impulses. Since this is our city's anniversary year, with the festival theme “DAUGAVPILS, 7 and a HALF centuries of “EXISTENCE, HOPE, LOVE””, we invite the audience to embrace these core values as the city's message to themselves and others, allowing it to transcend the boundaries of the present and future.”

During the event, the entire Riga Street will be divided into several thematic sectors. These will include musical stages reflecting the city's rhythm through the lenses of classical, contemporary, rock, and pop music, a creative visual arts sector where one can experience the magic of graffiti, airbrush, and painting techniques, and also an artisan workshop sector revealing the secrets of blacksmithing and ceramics, etc. Naturally, there will be an automoto sector featuring American cars, drift cars, and motorcycles, visual interplay of lights and shadows on various environmental objects, living sculptures, and children's puppet theater sketches, as well as dances in their diverse styles, rhythms, and performances.

The Riga Street Festival in Daugavpils first took place in the early 1990s, but in 2014 this tradition was revived and has become an annual September event. Daugavpils' Riga Street is a valuable cultural landscape space, and it is unique as one of the first pedestrian streets in Latvia.
