Rock for Freedom
Continuing the revived tradition of the rock festival, the second festival “Rock for Freedom” will take place on July 5th at the Skrunda Open-Air Stage. Throughout the day, various activities will be held in the city of Skrunda for both young and adult spectators. The festival will conclude with a grand concert featuring Latvian music stars: singer Aija Andrejeva and guitarist Harijs Zariņš, the legendary band “bet bet”, as well as the charismatic singer Ivo Fomins. Each concert participant will have prepared a special program of their most popular songs.
“I am very pleased to be on stage once again with the singer of my heart Aija and her amazing band. Especially in Skrunda, where Aija's father Alex and I once 'blew the roof off' for both ourselves and the audience. See you at the rock festivities in Skrunda!” says the legendary guitarist Harijs Zariņš.
It is worth remembering that rock concerts are not unfamiliar in Skrunda, as the tradition of rock has been alive here for more than thirty years. In 1994, the first historic concert “Rock Against Skrunda's Radar” was held at the Skrunda Open-Air Stage, organized to draw attention to the unresolved issues of Latvia's independence and defense, and to express a stance against the Skrunda radar station, which was located near the city and symbolized Soviet military presence.
