Onion Festival in Salas Parish

On August 24th at 11:00 AM, the Onion Festival in Salas Parish invites both locals and visitors to the Babīte Cultural Education Center branch "Vietvalži".

This year, the "Vietvalži" branch of the Babīte Cultural Education Center will delight audiences with a special performance marking the 800th anniversary of the name Babīte. Theatrical performance "Around Lake Babīte in Eight Hundred Years" has been created. Younger festival-goers will enjoy a musical performance "Paw Patrol in the Pony Fairy Garden", and musician Vairis Nartišs will captivate audiences with an unusual musical stand-up show "Blow and Let Go", featuring a variety of musical instruments.

Additionally, there will be an opportunity to watch a dance concert show "Aunt Anna’s Pirouettes" created by our local choreographer Lilija Lipora and her colleagues, which takes place during the village cemetery festival. Latvian theater and cinema ballads will be performed by Raitis Zapackis (vocals and accordion) and Pēteris Asbahs (guitar). We will also meet the winners of the TV show "Choir Wars" – the Talsi White Choir and Markus Riva, as well as the band "Audiokvartāls", Maija Sējāne, and the band "CoCo Orchestra", among others.

The event is part of the district festival "Celebrating Through the Centuries", where throughout the year, we celebrate the 100th anniversary of the name Mārupe and the 800th anniversary of the name Babīte with a diverse festival program! Let's celebrate the past, present, and future of the district so that our stories continue through the centuries!
