Summer Solstice Celebration 2024
On June 15, starting from 10:00 AM, the Rainis and Aspazija summer house in Jurmala, at 5/7 Jāņa Pliekšāna Street, invites you to take a leisurely walk along a poet-inspired nine-flower meadow trail. At 5:00 PM, you will have the opportunity to weave flowers into a wreath together with the folklore group 'Mare', learning about the summer solstice traditions through songs, games, and conversations.
“Irresistible love for meadows, for cornflowers, for the scent of hay, because the older one gets, the greater the yearning,” wrote Rainis in his diary. Just before the Midsummer Festival, the Rainis and Aspazija summer house invites visitors to explore the garden, where following the poets' instructions, you can enjoy the meadow flower trail, discover the flowers the home's owner has placed in his herbarium, and experience the scents of the flowers as described in Aspazija's poetry.
Meanwhile, at 5:00 PM, visitors can weave flowers into a wreath and prepare for the summer solstice celebration together with the folklore group 'Mare'. “Rainis never left his native Selonia meadows during his lifetime. What about our meadows of dreams?” ask the organizers of the event.
Entrance fee according to museum rates (1–3 EUR). Free entry for the evening event from 5:00 PM onwards.
