Midsummer Celebration at Jersika Hillfort

This year, we will celebrate the summer solstice at Jersika Hillfort. This is the time to draw on the knowledge of our ancestors, feel connected to nature, enhance our strength, and gain the energy of summer's fullness for the coming year. Therefore, we invite all of you to one of Latvia's largest and most significant hillforts - Jersika Hillfort to celebrate the summer solstice.

Event program:

Participants will be welcomed at Jersika Hillfort from 6:00 PM to enjoy the magic of the summer solstice together with the folklore group “Ceiruleits”.

At 8:00 PM, the musical play "A Brief Lesson in Loving" will take place. A theatrical, lively, gently ironic performance with music by Raimonds Pauls, featuring vivid characters, witty dialogues, and unexpected plot twists.
Participating singing actors: Evija Krūze, Aija Dzērve, Terēze Lasmane, Zane Jančevska, Aīda Ozoliņa, Artis Drozdovs, Juris Kalniņš, Valdis Lūriņš, Kristians Kareļins, Imants Veikmanis, as well as musicians Andris Daniļenko and Valdis Zilveris.

From 10:00 PM, dancing until midnight with the band “Augusti” and the folklore group “Rūžupis veiri”.

On one of the shortest nights of the year, we will bid farewell to the sun and light the Midsummer bonfire.

At 10:00 PM, in the manor's cellar building, we will watch the legendary Latvian film “Limuzīns Jāņu nakts krāsā” and taste Midsummer cheese.

At 11:00 PM, in this magical moment, the ancient witnesses of Jersika Hillfort will shine in the light performance “Under the Solstice Skies”.

Throughout the evening, there will also be:

a crafts market;

sauna broom making and traditional Latvian sauna rituals;

flower and oak leaf wreath weaving, bouquet making;

herbal mat weaving on stylized looms;

horse and pony rides for the little ones;

rides in a limousine in Midsummer night colors;

boat rides on the Daugava with the ship “Visvaldis” (every hour). Participation fee 8.00 EUR.

We invite all participants to adorn themselves with Midsummer herbs and wreaths, which are one of the most characteristic and important elements of the Latvian summer solstice.
