The Nature Conservation Agency, in cooperation with the Dundaga Tourism Information Center, invites families with children to an exciting, nocturnal adventure – Bat Night in Dundaga on July 26.

By the way, did you know that bat researchers call Dundaga the bat capital of Northern Courland?

Program:

  • 20:00 – Creative workshops for the whole family about bats
  • 21:00 – Lecture by bat researcher Viesturs Vintulis
  • 22:00 – Bat watching walk in the Dundaga Castle Park (weather permitting)

Learn how bats navigate in the dark, how many mosquitoes they consume in one night, and why they are indispensable for maintaining the balance of nature!

!! Participation in the event is free, but the number of places is limited – registration is mandatory.

It is recommended to dress appropriately for the weather, bring a flashlight, and mosquito repellent.

All bats residing in Latvia are specially protected, harmless to humans, mostly active at night, and feed on insects. During the night, they consume nutrients that make up one-third of their weight. These small, mouse-like flying creatures not only play a crucial role in regulating insect cycles but also in fostering biological diversity.

A very exciting event, also suitable for families with children.
