Steps in History
The Krišjānis Barons Museum (Riga, Krišjāņa Barona Street 3-5) invites you to visit the building on November 17, where on the evening of November 17, 1918, the Latvian state was born.
On the evening of November 17, 1918, in the premises of the Riga Latvian Craftsmen's Society's credit union on Suvorova (now Krišjāņa Barona) Street 3, eight Latvian political parties agreed on the establishment of the Latvian People's Council. It declared Latvia's independence on November 18 and became the first legislative body of the Republic of Latvia.
On November 17, 2024, at 12:00 PM, the museum invites you to an informative tour of the building “Steps in History” – by climbing the historic stairs, you will have the opportunity to learn about the creation of the building, notable people, and events. Meeting at the entrance door of the building.
At 1:00 PM, viewing fragments of the film “The Only Photograph” and a family activity “Get to Know the History of Your Country”. Visitors will also be able to find out why K. Barons did not participate in the ceremonial event of the state's founding.
