International Valmiermuiža Ethnomusic Festival 2025

Plan for the most significant ethnomusic event in Latvia and meet again in Valmiermuiža on July 5, 2025!

The International Valmiermuiža Ethnomusic Festival will gather for the eighth year those seeking authentic experiences, as well as outstanding soloists and contemporary ethnomusic groups from Latvia and other nearby and distant countries. A diverse musical adventure, ranging from traditional to contemporary ethnomusic, will captivate even the most discerning music enthusiasts.

Circus artists, fire shows, cuisines of various nations, peaceful and lively lounges, visual arts events, entertaining educational workshops utilizing ancient skills to celebrate modern sustainability—the festival promises a range of diverse impressions and a great atmosphere for the whole family! The theme of the 2025 festival is “movement”—everything that is alive moves. Plants reach for the sun, people move towards each other. Movement can be unidirectional, purposeful, it can be chaotic, lead through detours, guide in circles, and even bring to a dead end. Movement can be forward and upward, but sometimes it's necessary to step aside and observe to find the right direction again. Everything we encounter on our journey influences our movement—it can be fellow travelers, impressions, music, and sunsets.

Admission is free for children under 16 years old.

The Valmiermuiža Ethnomusic Festival is organized by the Valmiermuiža Cultural Association in collaboration with the Cultural Management Centre "Lauska." It is supported by the Valmiermuiža Brewery, Valmiera Municipality, the State Culture Capital Foundation, the Upbeat platform, and others.
